Questions you might have
Frequently asked questions
We know finding the right support can feel confusing. Here are answers to some of the questions families and people we support often ask.
Getting Support
Who can Clarity Cura support?
We support children, young people and adults who may need some extra help to live their everyday lives.
This includes people with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs and other additional or complex needs.
You don’t always need a diagnosis to ask us for support.
What kind of support can you provide?
It depends on what you need.
We can help with things such as:
- Getting out and about
- Going to activities, clubs or appointments
- Building confidence and independence
- Learning everyday life skills
- Socialising and making connections
- Following routines
- SEND and neurodiversity support
- Giving parents and family carers a break
- Practical support at home or in the community
We get to know you first and then agree together what support would be most helpful.
Do I need a social worker to use Clarity Cura?
No.
You or your family can contact us directly. You do not need to be referred by a social worker.
We can also accept enquiries from social workers, schools and other professionals.
How do I get started?
Just get in touch.
You can call, WhatsApp, email us or fill in the form on our website.
We’ll have a friendly chat about what help you’re looking for and answer any questions you have.
There is no pressure to go ahead.
How quickly can my support start?
This depends on what support you need and whether we have the right person available.
We don’t want to simply send whoever is available. We want to find someone who is a good match for you.
If you need support urgently, tell us and we’ll let you know what we can do.
Your Support Worker
Can I choose my support worker?
We want you to be involved in choosing the person who supports you.
We look at things such as personality, interests, experience, communication and what makes you feel comfortable.
The right match is important to us.
Can I meet my support worker first?
Where possible, yes.
We understand that meeting someone new can sometimes feel difficult or worrying.
We want you to have the chance to get to know your support worker and feel comfortable with them.
Will I have the same support worker each time?
We will try to keep your support as consistent as possible.
We know that having familiar people can be especially important for people and anyone who finds changes difficult.
Sometimes changes cannot be avoided, but we will try to let you know beforehand whenever we can.
Are your support workers DBS checked?
Yes. All of our support workers are appropriately DBS checked.
We also check things such as identity, references, right to work and whether someone is suitable for the role before they start supporting people.
Are your support workers trained?
Yes.
Our team receives training for the work they do.
If you have particular support needs, we will also look at whether the person supporting you needs any extra training or experience.
Your safety comes first.
Autism, ADHD & SEND Support
Do you support people with autism and ADHD?
Yes.
We support autistic, ADHD and other neurodivergent children, young people and adults.
We know that every person is different.
We won’t make assumptions about you because of a diagnosis. We will get to know you.
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. We consider your needs.
We know that some people wait a long time for assessments and diagnoses.
Talk to us about the support you need and we can tell you whether we can help.
Can you support someone who doesn’t use speech to communicate?
Yes.
People communicate in lots of different ways.
We will take time to understand how the person communicates and how they tell us what they want, need, like or don’t like.
Can you help with sensory needs and routines?
Yes.
We can learn about the things that make someone feel comfortable, overwhelmed, anxious or calm.
We can also work with routines and ways of doing things that are important to the person.
We don’t expect people to change who they are to fit around us.
Can you help someone become more independent?
Yes.
But independence doesn’t mean the same thing for everyone.
It might mean learning to use the bus, going shopping, making a meal, joining an activity, communicating a choice or spending some time away from a parent or carer.
We start with what you want to achieve.
Paying for Support
Can I pay for support myself?
Yes.
You can pay privately for Clarity Cura support.
We will explain the cost before support starts so you know what you will be paying.
Can I use Direct Payments?
You may be able to use your Direct Payment to pay for our support.
It depends on what your Direct Payment has been agreed for.
If you’re not sure, talk to us. We can help you understand what information you may need to check with your council or Direct Payments team.
How much does support cost?
The cost can depend on the type of support you need, when you need it and where you live.
We will always explain the cost to you before you agree to anything.
There should be no unexpected charges.
Everyday Support
Can you take me or my child out into the community?
Yes.
Support doesn’t have to happen at home.
We can support people to enjoy activities, go shopping, attend clubs, visit places, meet people, go to appointments and do the things that matter to them.
Can you come with me to appointments?
Yes, if this is part of the support we have agreed with you.
We can provide reassurance and practical support and help you feel more confident attending appointments.
Do you provide evening and weekend support?
Yes, we work around your needs.
Tell us the days and times you need support and we’ll check what we can offer.
Is there a minimum number of hours I have to book?
No. Just tell us what you need.
We don’t want you paying for hours you don’t need.
If there is a minimum booking time for the support you’re asking for, we’ll tell you before you agree to anything.
Safety & Concerns
What if I don’t feel comfortable with my support worker?
Please tell us.
You should feel safe and comfortable with the person supporting you.
We will listen to you and work with you to find a solution.
What if I’m unhappy with the service?
Please talk to us.
You will never get into trouble for complaining or telling us that something isn’t right.
We want to know if something isn’t working so that we can try to put it right.
Do you provide personal care?
We are currently growing our services.
Some types of personal care need special registration before a company can provide them. We will never offer support that we are not legally allowed or properly prepared to provide.
Tell us what help you need and we will clearly explain what we can and cannot currently offer.
For Parents & Families
I’m overwhelmed and don’t know what support to ask for. Can you still help?
Yes. Absolutely.
You don’t need to know exactly what service you need.
Just tell us what’s happening, what’s difficult at the moment and what would make life a little easier.
We’ll take it from there.
Can you give parents and carers a break?
Yes, depending on the person’s needs.
Sometimes having a trusted person spend time with your child or family member can give you time to rest, spend time with other family members, attend appointments or simply have a little breathing space.
Talk to us about what would help.
Can you work with my child’s school or other professionals?
Yes, where appropriate and with the right permission.
Good support works best when everyone understands what is important to the person.
We can work alongside families, schools, social workers and other professionals involved in someone’s support.
Still not sure if we can help?
That’s okay.
You don’t need to know exactly what you’re looking for before contacting us.
Tell us a little about you, your child or the person you’re supporting and what would make life easier.
If we can help, we’ll explain how. If we’re not the right service, we’ll be open about that too.
Start with a conversation. We’re here to listen.
